If you were to look through my closet, you’d probably immediately notice a disproportionate number of elevated basics and shoes in relation to the rest of my clothes. I’ve historically had more of a uniform approach to dressing, and one of the words my friends have always used to describe my style is chic.
Looking through the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I immediately started noticing the items I know I’d get the most wear out of. While I wear emerging designers and pieces that feel unique and artful as well, if I’m shopping a sale, I find the easiest way to sort through the hundreds of options is by filtering for timeless staples in neutral colors—things I know will be reworn over and over.
Since the sale started on July 12, I’ve looked through the markdowns multiple times and started to notice things selling out: banana-colored Frye boots, Nordstrom’s in-house cashmere, Rōz shampoo, Prada Beauty lip balm.
